BJP Slams Arvind Kejriwal's Resignation As A 'PR Stunt'-What's The Real Motive?
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday dismissed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's announcement to step down from his post as nothing more than a public relations tactic. BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari claimed that Kejriwal is attempting to repair his image, which has allegedly been tarnished by accusations of corruption.
"This is a PR stunt by Arvind Kejriwal. He has realized that the people of Delhi no longer see him as an honest leader but as a corrupt one. Today, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is recognized across the country as corrupt," Bhandari told ANI.

BJP Accuses Kejriwal of Image Manipulation
Bhandari went on to claim that Kejriwal's move is intended to restore his reputation, comparing it to Sonia Gandhi's decision to make Manmohan Singh the Prime Minister while allegedly running the government from behind the scenes. According to Bhandari, Kejriwal is taking preemptive action, recognizing that AAP is likely to lose the upcoming Delhi elections.
Manjinder Singh Sirsa, another BJP leader, suggested that Kejriwal's resignation is inevitable due to Supreme Court-imposed bail conditions. "This is not a voluntary resignation, but a result of the Supreme Court's ruling. Kejriwal cannot perform his duties as CM under these conditions," Sirsa told ANI.
Allegations of Nepotism
Sirsa also claimed that Kejriwal is trying to convince party MLAs to appoint his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, as the next chief minister. "He's taking two days to push his MLAs to make his wife the CM. He's leaving the chair because of his involvement in the liquor scam," Sirsa alleged.
Kejriwal's Response
Kejriwal, addressing a gathering after his release from Tihar Jail, vowed to resign from his position in two days but also promised not to resume the CM's role until he received a "certificate of honesty" from the people. He declared that he would campaign across Delhi, seeking public validation before returning to office.
"I will not sit on the CM chair until the people give their verdict. I will go to every house, every street, but I will not resume the role of CM until I regain the trust of the people," Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal has been embroiled in corruption and money laundering cases related to the Delhi excise policy. His recent release from Tihar Jail came after the Supreme Court granted him bail, with conditions preventing him from signing official files, visiting the CM's office, or commenting publicly on his role in the case.
The AAP leader also claimed that his arrest was part of a plan to dismantle the party and take control of the Delhi government. However, he credited his party for standing strong during his six-month imprisonment.
"They thought they would break our party by jailing me, but we stood firm. I didn't resign from jail because I wanted to protect the Constitution and prevent their plan from succeeding," Kejriwal asserted.
