Anna Hazare Highlights Liquor And Corruption As Reasons For Arvind Kejriwal's Defeat
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in the Delhi assembly elections as vote counting continues. Supporters have begun celebrating at the BJP headquarters, dancing and waving flags. Meanwhile, social activist Anna Hazare has criticised Arvind Kejriwal, attributing his electoral struggles to a tarnished image due to alleged involvement with alcohol and money.
Anna Hazare commented on Kejriwal's character, stating, "I have been saying for a long time that while contesting elections, the candidate should have character, good ideas and the image should not be tarnished. But, he did not understand this. He got entangled in alcohol and money. This tarnished the image of Arvind Kejriwal and that is why he is getting less votes in the elections."

BJP's Prospects and Leadership Decisions
Virendra Sachdeva, president of BJP's Delhi unit, expressed optimism about forming the government in Delhi. He mentioned that the central leadership would decide on the next Chief Minister. After visiting Hanuman temple in Connaught Place, Sachdeva told reporters that current results align with their expectations but they await final confirmation.
Anna Hazare further elaborated on his stance regarding Kejriwal: "People have seen that Arvind Kejriwal talks about character but gets involved in alcohol. In politics, allegations are always made, one has to prove that he is not guilty." Hazare also mentioned his decision to distance himself from Kejriwal's party after an earlier meeting.
AAP Faces Significant Losses
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suffered notable defeats with prominent figures like Manish Sisodia losing from Jangpura and Durgesh Pathak from Rajendra Nagar. These losses mark a challenging phase for AAP as they face setbacks against BJP's rising influence in Delhi.
When asked if he would address Kejriwal following this electoral defeat, Anna Hazare stated he had nothing more to say as the time for discussions had passed. His comments reflect a longstanding disapproval of Kejriwal's political conduct.
It's important to note that BJP has been out of power in Delhi for 26 years. The current trends indicate a potential shift in political dynamics within the capital city as BJP gains momentum.
