Traffic Alert! Mumbai-Goa Highway Roadblock; Check Timings And Alternative Routes

The Maharashtra Public Works Department (PWD) has announced a three-day roadblock on the Mumbai-Goa highway scheduled from July 11th to July 13th. The roadblocks will occur twice daily, from 06:00 to 08:00 am and 02:00 to 04:00 pm.

This temporary halt is essential for the installation of girders as part of constructing a new bridge near Pui, close to Kolad, according to the PWD.

About Mumbai-Goa Highway

The Mumbai-Goa highway spans 555 kilometres, with approximately 460 kilometres falling within Maharashtra's borders until Patradevi in Sindhudurg district. Among these, 84 kilometres are managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), while the state PWD oversees the remaining 376 kilometres. Currently, 266 kilometres of this stretch have already been completed under various project packages.

The NHAI aims to finish the 84-kilometre stretch from Panvel to Indapur by December this year, with significant progress already achieved in Package One covering 42.3 kilometres from Panvel to Kasu. Over 85 per cent of the physical work is completed here, including substantial progress on the parallel service roads and vehicular underpass constructions in Gadab, Pen Taluka.

Alternative Routes For Mumbai-Goa Highway

Travel from Mumbai to Goa:

1. From Wakan Phata, take the Bhise Khind-Roha-Kolad road and re-enter the Mumbai-Goa Highway.
2. Alternatively, from Wakan Phata, divert via Pali-Rawalje-Kolad or Pali-Rawalje-Nizampur-Mangaon, and then return to the Mumbai-Goa Highway.
3. Vehicles on the Khopoli-Pali-Wakan National Highway can detour via Pali-Rawalje-Kolad or Pali-Rawalje-Nizampur-Mangaon, then rejoin the Mumbai-Goa Highway.

Travel from Goa to Mumbai:

1. From Kolad, take the Kolad-Roha-Bhise Khid-Wakan Phata or Nagothane route, and rejoin the Mumbai-Goa Highway.
2. Alternatively, from Kolad, divert through Rawalje-Pali and take the Wakan-Pali-Khopoli National Highway route back.
3. Another option is to divert via Rawalje-Pali-Wakan Phata, then return to the Mumbai-Goa Highway.

These alternative routes aim to minimize inconvenience during the scheduled roadblocks and ensure smooth travel between Mumbai and Goa.
