Supriya Sule Slams BJP: Calls Out Party For Poaching Opposition Talent, Lacking Their Own

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule expressed disappointment on Thursday regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cancelled trip to Pune due to rain, where he was scheduled to inaugurate a new phase of the Pune Metro project.

Taking a dig at the PM, Sule pointed out that this would have marked the sixth time Modi had inaugurated the Pune Metro.

"It is unfortunate the PM will not be coming to Pune today. He was to inaugurate the Pune Metro for the sixth time. I request the PMO not to delay further and consider inaugurating the Metro online to save people from traffic issues," said Sule at a press conference at the NCP headquarters in Mumbai.

Modi, in previous visits, had inaugurated various phases of the project. Thursday's planned inauguration was for the underground stretch from Civil Court to Swargate.

Criticism of Amit Shah's Talent Poaching Remarks

Sule also criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah's recent comments during his visit to Maharashtra, where he allegedly instructed BJP leaders to "poach" workers from the Opposition. Sule questioned the BJP's reliance on Opposition members for talent.

"Shah comes to Maharashtra and tells his party workers to poach from the Opposition. Where's the talent in the BJP? Has it disappeared? What a shame that BJP, which once had its own talent while in Opposition, now depends on others. Is Amit Shah implying there's no talent left in BJP?" Sule remarked, questioning the state of the ruling party's original workers.

Concerns Over Encounter Justice

Sule also raised concerns over the recent encounter of Akshay Shinde, an accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case. She questioned the government's stance on encounters, saying the Constitution allows for judicial processes, not extrajudicial killings.

"Our Constitution allows for the death penalty, not encounters. If Akshay Shinde had been hanged following the judicial process, I would have been the first to congratulate Chief Minister Eknath Shinde," Sule stated. She also criticized the optics of a Home Minister with a revolver, calling it a bad sign for democracy.

Sule's remarks come amid growing concerns about law and order, transparency in governance, and the internal workings of the ruling BJP in Maharashtra.
