NCP Candidates List For Maharashtra Elections 2024, Ajit Pawar To Contest From Baramati

Ajit Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), will run for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections from his family stronghold of Baramati, as announced by the party on Wednesday.

The NCP will be contesting the elections in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena.

Voting for all 288 assembly seats is scheduled for November 20, with results set to be announced on November 23.

On Tuesday, the Shiv Sena released its first list of 45 candidates for the elections. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will contest from the Kopri-Pachpakhadi Assembly constituency, while other prominent candidates include Manisha Ravindra Waykar from Jogeshwari (East), Suhas Dwarkanath Kande for Nandgao, Pradip Shivnarayan Jaiswal in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Middle), and Balaji Devidasrao Kalyankar for Nanded North.

Sada Sarvankar has been selected to challenge Amit Thackeray, the son of Raj Thackeray, for the Mahim seat.

During a meeting on October 18, the party expressed support for CM Shinde as a potential chief ministerial candidate.

As the election date approaches, both the ruling Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP and the Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar's NCP, along with the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)-which consists of the UBT faction of Shiv Sena, the Sharad Pawar faction of NCP, and Congress-are intensifying their campaign efforts.

In the previous Maharashtra assembly elections held in 2019, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena secured 56, and the Congress claimed 44. In the 2014 elections, the BJP achieved 122 seats, the Shiv Sena took 63, and Congress got 42.
