Mumbai: One Dead, Many Feared Trapped After Part Of Building Collapses Amid Heavy Rains
In Mumbai, heavy rains led to a tragic incident on Saturday when a balcony collapsed, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to three others.
The collapse occurred at a four-storey residential building, Rubinnisa Manzil, located on Grant Road near the Grant Road railway station.

The building, which had been declared dangerous by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), had a weak structure exacerbated by the incessant rainfall.
The incident, which took place around 11 am, involved the partial collapse of balcony portions from the second and third floors and a part of the fourth floor.
Rescue operations were promptly initiated, and 13 people were successfully rescued by the fire department, though seven to eight individuals remain trapped inside the precariously hanging structure.
Among the injured, a 70-year-old woman was declared dead upon arrival at a local hospital, while three others are currently receiving treatment.
The rescue ops are focused on safely extricating those still inside the building.
Mumbai experienced intermittent heavy rain on Saturday, leading to waterlogging in certain areas but not affecting train and flight services. Traffic diversions were implemented in waterlogged areas, such as near Sheetal Cinema and Kale Marg in Kurla, and on the Aarey route in Goregaon east.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Chandrapur and an orange alert for Nagpur, Amravati, and Wardha districts as heavy rainfall continues across Maharashtra.
