Mumbai Local Train Services Enhanced For Anant Chaturdashi 2024: More Trains And Longer Halts; Details Inside
In preparation for Anant Chaturdashi, Western Railway has announced special train services to accommodate the large number of Ganesha devotees travelling to and from Girgaon Chowpatty for the Ganapati immersion on Tuesday, 17 September. These additional trains aim to reduce inconvenience and ensure smoother travel for all passengers.
On the night of Anant Chaturdashi, eight special trains will operate between Churchgate and Virar in both directions. The schedule is designed to provide more options for those returning home after the immersion festivities. Trains from Churchgate to Virar will depart at 1:15 PM, 1:55 PM, 2:55 PM, and the last train at 3:20 PM. In the reverse direction, trains from Virar to Churchgate will leave at 12:15 PM, 12:45 PM, 1:40 PM, and the final train at 3:00 PM.

To facilitate comfortable boarding and alighting, all trains will have extended stops at Charni Road station. This adjustment will help manage the increased passenger numbers more effectively.
Additionally, on Tuesdays between 5 PM and 8:30 PM, all Churchgate and Mumbai 38 Fast Up locals will make stops at every station between Central Station. However, to manage the flow of passengers and prevent overcrowding, no up-slow trains will halt at Charni Road station between 5 PM and 10 PM.
These measures are part of Western Railway's efforts to ensure that devotees have a hassle-free experience during this significant religious event.
