Mumbai Hit-And-Run: Mihir Shah's Blood Report Throws Wrench In BMW Accident Case, Send Cops In Tizzy

The forensic report of Mihir Shah, the 23-year-old accused in a hit-and-run case in Mumbai's Worli, has contradicted earlier claims that he was drunk at the time of the tragic collision.

Despite initial reports from police sources suggesting that Shah was "heavily drunk" when he drove his luxury BMW sedan, no trace of alcohol was found in his blood and urine samples.

This case revolves around a horrific incident on the morning of July 7, when Shah allegedly rammed his speeding BMW into a two-wheeler in the Worli area.

The impact was so severe that the bike overturned, throwing both the husband and wife riding it onto the bonnet of the car.

While the husband, Pradeep, managed to jump off the bonnet, his wife, Kaveri Nakhwa, was tragically dragged for 100 meters by the car as it attempted to flee the scene. Kaveri was later declared dead at the hospital, while Pradeep sustained injuries.

The forensic report could have been a crucial piece of evidence if it had indicated alcohol in Shah's system, but now, "the cops will have to rely on circumstantial evidence while presenting the case in court."

Mihir Shah, whose father was a member of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction (now suspended), was arrested about 58 hours after the incident.

The delay in his arrest has raised concerns, as the time gap was "enough for alcohol to be flushed out of his body."

His arrest came after he had reportedly spent Rs 18,730 at a Juhu bar, where he allegedly consumed alcohol using a false ID. However, the police now face a challenging situation in proving that Shah was under the influence during the incident.

In a somber reflection, Pradeep, the bereaved husband, expressed his doubts about the justice process, "We are poor. Who is there to support us... today, he will be sent to jail. Tomorrow he will be produced in court, and then he will get bail."

Alongside Shah, his family members, including his politician father, mother, and two sisters, were also taken into custody.

Additionally, Rajshri Bidawat, Shah's driver, who had allegedly swapped seats with him before the incident, was arrested as well.
