Maharashtra Weather Update: IMD Red And Orange Alerts For Heavy Rainfall; Mumbai Lakes At 96.54% Capacity

In Maharashtra, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Chandrapur, Nagpur, and Yavatmal forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places.

Additionally, IMD issues an orange alert for Nanded, Amravati, and Gadchiroli, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms with lightning, and gusty winds at isolated places.

Apart from these two major alerts, the IMD has placed the following regions under a yellow alert:

Jalna, Beed, Latur, Osmanabad, and Wardha are expected to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph at isolated places.

Dhule, Jalgaon, Nasik, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, Sangli, Sholapur, and Aurangabad may face thunderstorms with lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph at isolated places.

Parbhani and Hingoli could encounter thunderstorms with lightning, heavy rainfall, and gusty winds at isolated locations.

Bhandara, Buldhana, Gondia, and Washim are expected to experience thunderstorms with lightning at isolated places.

Pune and Satara might face heavy rainfall in ghat areas along with thunderstorms and lightning at isolated locations.

Akola is likely to experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning at isolated places.

Raigad and Ratnagiri could see heavy rainfall at isolated locations.

On September 2, temperatures will vary between 27 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius, accompanied by a generally cloudy sky and moderate rain.

On September 3, the weather will see temperatures from 25 degrees Celsius to 31 degrees Celsius, with overcast skies and moderate rain throughout the day.

On September 4, expect temperatures to range from 26 degrees Celsius to 31 degrees Celsius, with persistent cloud cover and moderate rain.

On September 5, temperatures will be between 26 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius, with rainfall expected across the region.

On September 6, temperatures will stay within the range of 26 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius, with ongoing rain in the forecast.

Mumbai Lakes Water Level

As of Saturday morning, Mumbai's seven reservoirs, which supply the city with drinking water, are 96.54 per cent full, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The total water stored in these lakes is 13,97,343 million litres, which is 96.54 per cent of their full capacity.

Mumbai sources its water from the Tulsi, Tansa, Vihar, Bhatsa, Modak Sagar, Upper Vaitarna, and Middle Vaitarna lakes.

Tansa: 98.57 per cet full
Modak Sagar: 99.99per cent full
Middle Vaitarna: 98.15 per cent full
Upper Vaitarna: 96.18 per cent full
Bhatsa: 95.03 per cent full
Vihar: 100 per cent full
