Maha polls: Congress likely to contest alone if talks with NCP fail

Speaking to Times Now, Chavan said that 'the party was ready to contest the assembly elections alone if seat sharing talks failed.' He said that if the NCP came with pre-conditions, there won' be any solution.'
Both the parties are likely to hold a meeting today to discuss the matter and arrive at a solution to end the on-going crisis. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Narayan Rane met Chavan ahead of the meeting.
Congress had offered 124 seats to NCP, which it rejected. Reports suggest that NCP is waiting for the deadlock between the BJP-Shiv Sena to end. If the alliance between BJP-Sena ends, then the NCP may contest the election as it feels that a five-cornered contest will be better.
