Acknowledging these problems, the government first extended the deadline to December 31 and has now pushed it further to ensure maximum coverage.

Why eKYC Is Mandatory

The government has made it clear that eKYC is non-negotiable. Aadhaar-linked verification is essential to ensure transparency, eliminate duplication, and make sure the funds reach only genuine beneficiaries. Without completing eKYC, monthly instalments may be paused or stopped.

In a post on X, Minister Aditi Tatkare explained that although beneficiaries were given time until December 31, errors occurred during eKYC submissions, with many women selecting incorrect options. To address this, the government has initiated a corrective mechanism.

Physical Verification: A Final Opportunity

To prevent genuine beneficiaries from losing benefits, District Collectors have been instructed to conduct physical verification at the local level. Anganwadi workers will verify details and help correct mistakes made during online eKYC. This move is being seen as a "last chance" for women who struggled with the digital process and ensures the scheme remains inclusive.

Special Rules for Vulnerable Women

Widows, divorcees, and women whose husbands or fathers have passed away are required to complete additional verification. Along with eKYC, they must submit supporting documents such as death certificates or divorce decrees to the District Women and Child Development Office. This step helps prevent delays and ensures uninterrupted payments.
