Fire In Mumbai's Goregaon Building: 7 Killed, Over 50 Injured
A fire erupted in a building with five floors in Goregaon West in Mumbai, at around 3:05 am on Friday, resulting in at least seven fatalities and leaving two individuals in critical condition.
Also, over 50 people sustained injuries in the accident. Among those who lost their lives, there was one male and five females, including two minors. Regarding the injured, 12 were males and 28 were females, with one being a minor, according to a News18 report.

Reports claim that a few cars and two-wheelers parked in the building were also gutted in the fire.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for the victims' families. He said, "I am continuously talking with Municipal Commissioner and Police... What happened is unfortunate. I express my condolences to those who died. The government will provide monetary help of Rs 5 lakhs to their families... Those who are injured will be given treatment by the government..."
On X, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, "Pained to know about loss of lives in the fire incident at Goregaon, Mumbai. We are in touch with BMC & Mumbai Police officials & all the assistance is being provided. My deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and wishing speedy recovery to the injured ones.
"Chief Fire Officer Ravindra Ambulgekar stated that the structure was built in 2006 as part of the Slum Rehabilitation scheme and lacked a fire-fighting system. The elevator was outdated, allowing a significant amount of smoke to travel through the lift duct.
The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
