Yogi says over 5 crore saplings would be planted in UP on Independence Day
Lucknow, July 30: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said his government set a target of planting at least 9.16 crore saplings this year and more than 5 crore will be planted this Independence Day.

"It is only through plantation that we can conserve the environment," Adityanath said while chairing a review meeting of the state's special plantation programme.
To make the plantation programme a success, public partnership is necessary so it is important to make the people aware, he said.
A target of planting 9.16 crore saplings has been fixed for this year, he said. On Independence Day, over 5 crore saplings will be planted, he added.
He said this target can be achieved by following the promise of 'Ek Vyakti-Ek Vriksha' (one person, one tree).
