UP Panchayat polls: 169 Gram Pradhan seats in Muzaffarnagar reserved for women

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Sept 27: For the upcoming panchayat polls in Uttar Pradesh, 169 out of 498 seats for village heads in the district have been reserved for women candidates.

"Of the 169 Gram Pradhan seats reserved for women, 30 seats are for Scheduled Castes, 48 for Other Backward Class and 91 seats for General Castes," District magistrate N C Chaturvedi said.

Out of 6,726 seats for Gram Panchayat members, 2,358 seats have been reserved for women in which 608 was for SC, 728 for OBC and 1,022 for General Caste candidates, he said.
