Jammu, Sept 26: Twelve persons were killed after terrorists targeted a police station at Hiranagar in Kathua here on Thursday. The deceased include five policemen and one civilian. Reports said the attackers opened fire at the station resulting in the deaths.

Meanwhile, two other terror attacks took place at an army camp in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Three army personnel including a lieutenant colonel were killed in the attack. Reports said the terrorists were in army uniforms.

CRPF jawans launched a counter-terror operation and heavy gunfire was reported from the Samca sector.

Observers feel the terrorists sharpened their attack ahead of Singh-Sharif talks

BSF jawans cordoned off the area and army helicopter was conducting an aerial surveillance to trace the terrorists. Two militants were reportedly killed in the encounter.

Observers feel the terror attacks were increased ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's talks with his Pakistani counterpart, Nawaz Sharif in the US in another few days. The Congress has strongly condemned the incident.
