In its annual report, Pornhub has revealed global adult content viewing trends for 2024, highlighting the most popular search terms. One of the standout findings is a kink that experts describe as "less complicated."

For the fourth consecutive year, "hentai" was the most searched term worldwide. This genre of Japanese anime and manga has gained significant traction, particularly in the US, where it overtook "lesbian" as the most popular search term. Hentai also topped the search lists in Brazil and conflict-stricken Ukraine.

Meanwhile, "MILF" remained a top search term in several countries, including the UK, Canada, and Spain.

Additionally, Pornhub noted a significant 72% increase in searches for "tradwives," a term referring to women who intentionally embrace traditional domestic roles, such as homemaking and child-rearing, instead of pursuing a career.

The top three search terms for 2024 were "hentai," "MILF," and "pinay," with "pinay" rising to the third spot for the first time. The term refers to a woman of Filipino origin or descent, and its growing popularity can be linked to a surge in viewers from the Philippines.

Other notable trends included an increase in searches for animated content, with "animation" climbing 15 spots in the rankings. The terms "wife," "real amateur," and "teacher" also saw notable rises, reflecting key platform trends.

The report also highlighted the influence of pop culture on search patterns. The viral phenomenon of "Hawk Tuah" led to a sharp increase in related searches, while the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris sparked a surge in sports-themed searches.

Dr Laurie Betito, a clinical psychologist and director of Pornhub's Sexual Wellness Centre, commented on the trends, stating, "It seems people may be pining for a simpler time-looking for things that are less complicated and maybe seeking out more meaningful experiences."
