Who Is Carlo Acutis, The First Millennial Set To Become A Saint?

A decree has recently been issued by Pope Francis announcing the recognition of a miracle attributed to Blessed Carlo Acutis, thereby paving the way for the Italian teenager's canonization in the near future.

It has been stated by Pope Francis that the miracle has been acknowledged, and that three other cases are being considered for canonization, along with Cardinal Marcello Semaro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints.

Who is Carlo Acutis?

Carlo Acutis, a devoted Catholic who was born in London on May 3, 1991, is renowned for having built a website that chronicles Eucharistic miracles. He passed away in Monza, Italy, on October 12, 2006, shortly after being informed at the age of fifteen that he had leukemia. Even following his sudden passing, his legacy continued, particularly through his inspirational website.

Acutis is set to be declared beatific in October 2020, subsequent to the Vatican validating and acknowledging a miracle credited to his intercession in 2013. It has been noted that Pope Francis will convene a consistory of cardinals to discuss the canonization of Acutis once a second miracle has been confirmed. According to Vatican journalist Courtney Mares, who spoke to Fox News Digital, Christians now have "a concrete example of what sanctity can look like in the 21st century."

Upon his canonization, Carlo will become the first millennial saint in the history of the Catholic Church. Mares, the Vatican journalist, stated to Fox News Digital, "The computer-programming Italian teen is beloved by many for his joyful witness to holiness in our digital age."

Carlo Acutis will become the first millennial saint in the history of the Catholic Church upon his canonization. Many people identify with his support of holiness in the digital era as he showed how to prioritize prayer and the sacraments above technology in a balanced manner. Acutis's devotion to evangelization is demonstrated by his tireless efforts to disseminate scientific proof of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist through Eucharistic miracles.

In the most recent miracle attributed to Acutis, a young Costa Rican woman who had suffered a severe brain injury in a bicycle accident was healed, as reported by Fox News Digital. According to Vatican News quoted by Fox News Digital, the youngster experienced "severe head trauma" from the collision; in order to alleviate pressure on her brain, medical professionals had to remove a portion of her skull. They did not think she was going to live.

"On July 18, a CAT scan proved that her hemorrhaging had disappeared, and on Aug. 11 Valeria was moved to rehabilitation therapy," said Vatican News. Usually, five years after a person's passing, the canonization procedure commences with the Vatican deeming them "venerable" once a holy life has been approved. If a miracle attributable to the person's intercession is later approved, they are beatified; if a second miracle occurs, they are canonized and given the title "saint."
