Who Is Breon Peace? The Prosecutor Behind Adani Bribery Case With George Soros Connection

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and federal prosecutors have charged Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group, and several associates, alleging a multi-billion-dollar scheme to defraud American investors and global financial institutions. The charges include conspiracy, securities fraud, wire fraud, and violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).

The Allegations

Breon Peace

Adani along with his nephew Sagar Adani, executives from Adani Green Energy Ltd, and Cyril Cabanes of Azure Power Global Ltd, is accused of providing false and misleading statements to secure investments. Prosecutors further allege the payment of $250 million in bribes to obtain lucrative solar energy contracts in India.

Breon Peace, the federal prosecutor leading the case, claimed the scheme manipulated financial data and concealed critical risks to mislead investors.

Political Connections and Timing

Surprisingly, Gautam Adani had announced a $10 billion investment in the US energy sector, sparking speculation about the timing. Hence, the prosecution might be politically motivated, given Peace's connections to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a prominent Democrat.

Schumer, who supported Peace's judicial appointment in 2021, has long been associated with billionaire George Soros and his family. Soros-backed Democracy PAC II has donated millions to Schumer-aligned super PACs in recent years, raising questions about political influences on the judicial process.

Deep State Theories Resurface

The case has reignited claims from conservative circles about a so-called "deep state" conspiracy targeting individuals perceived as threats to US interests. These theories, though speculative, implicate figures like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and George Soros in broader efforts to undermine adversaries.

Meanwhile, supporters of Adani claim the legal actions are part of an orchestrated campaign to tarnish the industrialist's reputation and curb his influence. This narrative aligns with sentiments expressed by former US President Donald Trump, who recently criticized Democrats for allegedly "stacking the courts" with left-leaning judges.
