Police allege Pune resident Ketan Agarwal was pushed off a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18 by fiancée Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, according to an FIR filed June 23 which notes Siya's alleged erratic behaviour and the family's suspicions regarding their relationship.

FIR Mentions Alleged Behaviour Before Fort Visit

The FIR, filed on June 23 by Ketan's father, Vishal Devichand Agarwal, states that Ketan had recently shared concerns with his family about Siya's conduct. According to the complaint, she had become increasingly "erratic", frequently arguing over minor issues and throwing tantrums.

One of the major disagreements reportedly centred on a cancelled visit to Lohagad Fort on June 4. The complaint alleges that Siya became upset after the trip did not happen and repeatedly insisted that Ketan take her there.

The FIR further states that on the night of June 17, Siya contacted Ketan through WhatsApp and used her upcoming birthday, which was two days away, to persuade his family to allow the outing the following day.

Ketan's mother, Rakhi Agarwal, initially refused permission for the trip. However, according to the complaint, Siya later spoke directly with her and eventually convinced her to agree.

Trip Ends In Tragedy At Lohagad Fort

On the morning of June 18, Ketan left his home and picked up Siya Goyal from Kiwale Bridge on the Pune-Mumbai highway before heading to Lohagad Fort.

At around 10.45 am, Siya reportedly called Ketan's mother and informed her that he had accidentally fallen into a gorge at the fort. Local residents, along with police personnel, rescued him from the gorge and rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Three days later, on June 21, Ketan's father and other relatives visited the location where he had fallen. The FIR states that after inspecting the spot, the family concluded that an accidental fall was highly unlikely. Ketan's friends, Navdeep Jindal and Tarun Mittal, were also present during the visit.

Family Suspects Relationship Between Accused

The complaint alleges that the family became suspicious after repeatedly finding Siya's phone engaged. They also claimed that she often mentioned a man identified as her "friend", Chetan Chaudhary, leading them to suspect that the two were in a romantic relationship.

The FIR names both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary as accused and alleges that they planned to kill Ketan because he had become an obstacle to their relationship. The case has been registered at Lonavala Rural Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to Ketan's father, the couple got engaged in February and had planned to travel to Bali on June 6 for a pre-wedding photoshoot. However, the trip was cancelled after Ketan was unable to obtain his passport in time.

Police Expand Investigation, Question Family Members

The investigation has since widened, with police summoning Siya Goyal's parents for questioning in connection with the case. This development comes after officers questioned her younger brother, Sahil Goyal, for nearly 10 hours.

Providing an update on the investigation, police officer Gajanan Tompe told news agency IANS, "Our investigation is currently at a preliminary stage. We have recorded some statements so far. Under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police, we have formed multiple teams. The investigation is proceeding accordingly."

He further said, "So far we have recorded statements of those people that were essential for the case and will continue to do so."
