WATCH | Russia Train-Truck Accident Injures 140, Derails Multiple Carriages
At least 140 people were injured in southern Russia on Monday when a train carrying 800 passengers collided with a truck at a level crossing, causing eight carriages to derail, according to Russian Railways.
The train, which was travelling from Kazan in Tatarstan to Adler on the Black Sea, had its brakes slammed on by the driver upon seeing the Kamaz truck.

The truck driver had broken traffic rules and entered the crossing despite alarms, as stated by Russian Railways.

The truck was hit by the train at a speed of about 65 kph (40 mph) near Kotelnikovo station, located in the southern Volgograd region, approximately 1,200 km (750 miles) south of Moscow.

Russian Railways reported that approximately 140 people sustained cuts and bruises, and 15 individuals, including three children, were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Kamaz driver was thrown about 15 meters (50 feet) by the impact and was reported to be in grave condition, according to the Mash Telegram channel, which published videos showing the battered remains of the truck's cabin and a man, purported to be the driver, with blood on his face.
Earlier reports by Mash had suggested that two people were killed in the collision, but this was not confirmed by Russian officials. Video footage published by the state news agency TASS showed derailed carriages, some of which were twisted. The emergency ministry of Russia reported that fire and rescue workers were attempting to free passengers and stated that a total of nine carriages had been derailed.
