Ramaswamy Labels Harris a 'Puppet', Criticizes Policy Avoidance
Republican leader Vivek Ramaswamy criticised Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her a "cog in the wheel" and a "puppet." He claimed that Harris avoids discussing policy in her speeches because it diminishes her popularity. Ramaswamy, 39, made these remarks on Thursday during an interview.

Ramaswamy was flown into Chicago by the Trump Campaign on the day Harris, 59, was set to accept the Democratic presidential nomination. He stated, "She's a cog in the wheel, she's a puppet. The reality is she's staying away from policy because the more she talks about policy, the less popular she becomes and that I think is the winning strategy for our side."
Focus on Policy Failures
Ramaswamy emphasised that Republicans should target Harris's economic policies and her record at the Southern border. He said, "We win on policy. I think we need to go harder after her for her failed economic policies and her record at the Southern border. The reality is if we do that, I believe we're going to be successful not only in winning this election but in saving the country."
The entrepreneur-turned-politician also expressed his support for Donald Trump, stating that Trump is the right choice for America. Ramaswamy mentioned he is doing everything possible to ensure Trump's election victory. "We're only going to implement that agenda if we have control of the Senate and the House as well," he added.
Balancing Politics and Business Ventures
Ramaswamy discussed his involvement in various ventures outside of politics. He is an executive producer of "City of Dreams," a new movie directed by Mohit Ramchandani, an immigrant from India. The film is set to release on August 30. Additionally, Ramaswamy has a book titled "Truths: The Future of America First" coming out in late September.
He highlighted the importance of cultural changes alongside political objectives. "I've been involved in a number of my business ventures... because I think it's important to drive those changes in culture," he said. However, he stressed that winning control of both the presidency and Congress remains his primary goal.
Criticism of Open Border Policy
Ramaswamy criticised Harris's open border policy, calling it offensive to legal immigrants. He stated, "I think it's offensive to every legal immigrant to have an open border to ten million people who enter this country illegally." He also pointed out that meritocracy should be a priority in America.
"It's a lot harder to get into a good college or even to get a job if you have the wrong race, gender, or sexuality," Ramaswamy said. He argued that the GOP aims to end affirmative action not out of opposition to any group but to promote meritocracy. "That's why many legal immigrants do come to this country. I think it's time we restore merit in the United States of America," he concluded.
Ramaswamy's comments reflect his broader strategy of focusing on policy issues and cultural changes while supporting Trump's re-election campaign. His criticisms of Harris aim to highlight perceived failures in her policies as part of this strategy.
