Democratic VP Nominee Tim Walz Unharmed After Motorcade Crash in Milwaukee

Several vehicles in a motorcade carrying Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz were involved in a crash on Monday while en route from the airport to a campaign event in Milwaukee. The incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. local time, but Walz was unharmed.

VP Nominee Walz Safe After Crash

Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign confirmed that she spoke with Walz soon after the accident, and he was not injured. The collision involved cars at the back of the motorcade, away from the front where Walz, who is also Minnesota's governor, was riding.

Details of the Incident

A member of Walz's traveling staff, who was in a van carrying reporters, sustained injuries and received medical attention. According to a pool report from a reporter in the motorcade, others in the van were shaken but seemed to be fine after being "violently thrown forward, as our van slammed into the one in front of us and was hit from behind."

The cause of the crash remains unclear. The accident happened after Walz and his wife, Gwen, were welcomed at the airport by Democratic Rep. Gwen Moore of Wisconsin. The trio embraced, chatted, and posed for a photo before heading to the event.

Campaign Activities

Monday's campaign stops marked Walz's first time aboard the Harris-Walz campaign charter aircraft. The plane features decals of an American flag, the words "Harris-Walz," and "A New Way Forward."

The crash did not involve any vehicles near the front of the motorcade where Walz was seated. This information was confirmed by Harris's campaign team.

The injured staff member was treated by medics on-site. Other passengers in the van were shaken but did not appear to have serious injuries.

Walz and his wife had just been greeted by Rep. Gwen Moore when they arrived at the airport. They took photos together before proceeding to their next campaign stop.

The exact cause of the crash is still unknown. Further details are awaited as investigations continue.

Despite the incident, Walz continued with his scheduled campaign activities for Labor Day without any interruptions.
