Sikh Man, Son Shot Dead In Canada: Cops Release Pics, Video Of Suspects [Watch]

Days after the killing of an Indian-origin man and his son in Canada's Edmonton, the Edmonton Police Service has released the pictures and video of the suspects involved in the incident.

"The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is releasing video and images of the suspects and their vehicle in hopes of generating additional information related to the shooting deaths of a father and son last Thursday," a statement from the police department said.

Sikh man was described as a "higher-level figure" in the organised crime scene in Canada.

41-year-old Harpreet Singh Uppal and his son were gunned down outside a gas station on Thursday afternoon in a brazen, daytime shooting, Edmonton Police Service acting Supt. Colin Derksen told the media on Friday.

A third occupant of the vehicle, another 11-year-old boy unrelated to Uppal or his son, immediately fled the scene after the shooting and remained unharmed, the statement added.

"It was reported to police that the suspects arrived in a black BMW SUV. The two then exited their vehicle, ran towards Uppal's white SUV, fired a weapon and fled the scene. A photo of the vehicle and a video clip of the suspects and their vehicle are included below," the statement added.

Shortly afterwards, law enforcement received reports of a vehicle engulfed in flames in the vicinity of 34 Street and Township Road 510 (north of Beaumont). Presently, the police are conducting an inquiry to determine if the suspect vehicle matches the burned vehicle, identified as a 2012 black BMW X6. No individuals were found inside the vehicle, and there have been no reported injuries as a consequence of the fire.

The Homicide Section of the Edmonton Police Service is actively investigating the case, and autopsies are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.

"We are hopeful that releasing this photo and video clip will help someone recall seeing the vehicle and/or suspects before or after the shooting," Staff Sergeant Rob Bilawey with the EPS Homicide Section said. "Sometimes a seemingly insignificant detail can be immensely helpful to our investigation, and we encourage anyone with information they believe may be related to this shooting to call us."

Uppal was facing charges related to cocaine possession and trafficking, as well as illegal possession of body armour. A trial was set to start in April 2024, CBC News reported.

While originating in the Vancouver area, the tit-for-tat slayings are now happening across the country. The day before Uppal was killed, B.C. UN gangster Parmvir Chahil was shot to death in Toronto.
