Trump Announces Indoor Inauguration Ceremony Due to Severe Windchill Forecast

US President-elect Donald Trump has decided to move his inauguration ceremony indoors due to expected severe windchill. The event, originally planned to be outside the US Capitol, will now take place in the Capitol Rotunda. Trump is set to be sworn in for a second term on Monday.

Trump Moves Inauguration Indoors for Safety

"I have ordered the Inauguration Address, in addition to prayers and other speeches, to be delivered in the United States Capitol Rotunda, as was used by Ronald Reagan in 1985, also because of very cold weather," Trump said on Truth Social, a social media platform owned by him.

Inauguration Ceremony Adjustments

The president-elect emphasised that the decision was made with public safety in mind. He highlighted the forecast for Washington, D.C., which predicts temperatures could drop to record lows due to windchill. "There is an Arctic blast sweeping the Country. I don’t want to see people hurt, or injured, in any way," he said.

Trump mentioned that Capital One Arena will be opened on Monday for live viewing of the inauguration and to host the Presidential Parade. "I will join the crowd at Capital One, after my Swearing In. All other events will remain the same, including the Victory Rally at Capital One Arena, on Sunday at 3 P.M. Doors open at 1 P.M.—Please arrive early!, and all three Inaugural Balls on Monday evening," he said.

Safety Measures and Public Viewing

The president-elect expressed concern for those attending the event outdoors. He noted that it would be dangerous for law enforcement, first responders, and supporters who would be outside for extended periods. "It is dangerous conditions for the tens of thousands of Law Enforcement, First Responders, Police K9s and even horses, and hundreds of thousands of supporters that will be outside for many hours on the 20th In any event, if you decide to come, dress warmly!," said the president-elect.

Trump assured that dignitaries and guests would be accommodated inside the Capitol. He described this arrangement as a beautiful experience for everyone involved, especially for those watching on television.

The decision reflects Trump's commitment to ensuring safety while maintaining the ceremonial aspects of his inauguration. Despite changes in venue, all other planned events will proceed as scheduled.
