PM Modi Concludes Diplomatic Visit to Russia and Austria, Discusses Bilateral Cooperation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to India on Wednesday after completing his visits to Russia and Austria. During his trip, he engaged in discussions with the top leaders of both nations, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation. The Prime Minister's Office confirmed his departure from Austria in a post on X.

Modi's first stop was Russia, where he attended the 22nd India-Russia summit with President Vladimir Putin. This marked his first visit to Moscow since the Ukraine conflict began. During their meeting, Modi emphasised that resolving the Ukraine conflict through military means is unfeasible and stressed the importance of peace talks over warfare.
India-Russia Bilateral Ties
In recognition of his efforts to strengthen India-Russia relations, President Putin officially awarded Modi the Order of St Andrew the Apostle. This honour was initially announced in 2019 but was conferred during this visit. The award highlights Modi's significant role in fostering ties between the two countries.
From Russia, Modi proceeded to Austria, marking the first visit by an Indian prime minister to the country in 41 years. In Austria, he met with President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Karl Nehammer. They discussed expanding cooperation in various sectors, including environmental protection and climate change mitigation.
Historic Visit to Austria
Modi described his visit to Austria as historic and highly productive. He expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended by Chancellor Nehammer, the Austrian government, and its people. "My visit to Austria has been historic and immensely productive. New vigour has been added to the friendship between our nations. I am glad to have attended diverse programmes while in Vienna. Gratitude to Chancellor @karlnehammer, the Austrian Government and people for their hospitality and affection," Modi stated in a post on X.
During his stay in Austria, Modi also addressed ongoing global disputes, including the Ukraine conflict and issues in West Asia, with Austrian leaders. These discussions aimed at finding peaceful resolutions and enhancing international cooperation.
Additionally, Modi took time to engage with the Indian community in both Russia and Austria. His interactions aimed at strengthening cultural ties and addressing concerns of Indians living abroad.
The visits underscored India's commitment to enhancing diplomatic relations and addressing global challenges through dialogue and cooperation.
