PM Modi Stresses on Diplomacy and Peace Before Ukraine Trip
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the eve of his visit to Ukraine, emphasised India's commitment to peace in the region. Addressing the Indian community in Poland, he reiterated that this is not a time for war and conflicts should be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue. Modi's remarks come ahead of his historic trip to Kyiv, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine since its independence in 1991.

India's Stance on Global Peace
Modi highlighted India's long-standing policy of maintaining distance from other countries. However, he noted that today's India seeks to build close relationships with all nations. "India is an advocate of permanent peace in this region. Our stand is very clear - this isn't an era of war. This is the time to come together against those challenges which threaten humanity. Therefore, India believes in diplomacy and dialogues," Modi stated.
The Prime Minister's visit to Ukraine follows nearly six weeks after his high-profile trip to Moscow. This visit had drawn criticism from the US and some Western allies. Modi's trip to Kyiv is at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, where he plans to discuss peaceful resolutions to the ongoing conflict with the Ukrainian leader.
India's Humanitarian Efforts
Modi also spoke about India's proactive role in global humanitarian efforts. He mentioned that India is often the first to offer assistance during crises worldwide. "If any country faces a crisis, India is the first country to extend a helping hand. Wherever in the world there is an earthquake or any disaster, India has only one mantra – Humanity first," he added.
During his address, Modi received enthusiastic chants of "Modi-Modi" from the Indian diaspora in Poland. His visit to Poland marks the first trip by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 45 years, highlighting the significance of strengthening bilateral ties.
India's Global Outreach
Modi emphasised India's inclusive approach towards development and international relations. "Today's India wants to connect with all. Today's India talks about the development of all. Today's India is with all and thinks about the interests of all," he said. This reflects India's evolving foreign policy aimed at fostering global cooperation and mutual growth.
As Modi prepares for his visit to Kyiv, his message underscores India's dedication to promoting peace through dialogue and diplomacy. The visit aims to strengthen India's ties with Ukraine while advocating for a peaceful resolution to ongoing conflicts.
The Prime Minister's engagements in Poland and Ukraine signify India's broader strategy of enhancing its global presence and fostering international partnerships based on mutual respect and cooperation.
