Pentagon Releases Never-Seen-Before Files On UFOs

The Pentagon is releasing UAP records as part of a transparency drive involving major government agencies, with congressional oversight and ongoing declassification to enable public scrutiny of unidentified anomalous phenomena.

The Pentagon has started putting new UFO records online, telling the public to assess the "unidentified anomalous phenomena." The move involves the White House, the director of national intelligence, the Energy Department, NASA and the FBI, and is framed as part of a broad transparency drive.

These UFO Pentagon files build on years of declassification work. Congress set up a special office in 2022 to handle such material, and its 2024 opening report listed hundreds of extra UAP incidents. That document said the U.S. government had never verified alien technology in any sighting.

UFO Pentagon files and congressional pressure for disclosure

Congress required the Pentagon in 2022 to start releasing decades of UFO sighting records, after service members described encounters with unexplained aircraft. Some Republicans in Congress accused defence officials of delaying full disclosure, arguing that important documents and videos were still being withheld from public view.

A letter in March from Rep. Anna Paulina Luna requested 46 UAP videos that whistleblowers had flagged. Luna posted on social media on 6 September that these videos should appear in a later batch of UFO Pentagon files. Luna linked the expected release directly to the new declassification schedule.

UFO Pentagon files, Trump and the transparency message

On 6 September, a Pentagon post on X said earlier administrations had tried to discredit or discourage the public, while President Donald Trump "is focused on providing maximum transparency to the public, who can ultimately make up their own minds about the information contained in these files." Officials said more releases would arrive in stages.

Trump, a Republican, had promoted the UFO Pentagon files announcement since February. Trump had already made public records on the killings of President John F. Kennedy, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., though those documents added little beyond material already available to historians and researchers.

Rep. Tim Burchett praised Trump for "keeping his word" on transparency and disclosure." Burchett added, "I would like to remind people that transparency won't all happen at once, it will take some time," stressing that UFO Pentagon files will appear gradually. Experts meanwhile warned that military UAP videos are often misread by people unfamiliar with advanced systems.

Specialists also highlighted that the Pentagon’s 2024 report rejected claims that authorities had recovered alien craft or confirmed any evidence of alien life.
