Pakistan Backs US President Trump For Nobel Peace Prize!

The Pakistan government has recommended US President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

Ironically, Donald Trump has backed Israel in the ongoing conflict with Iran. Islamabad claimed that the US President's intervention in the Operation Sindoor carried out by India prevented a potential catastrophic conflict due to which it was recommending his name for the Nobel Peace Prize.

What Pakistan Says?

In a statement on Friday, Pakistan claimed India started "unprovoked and unlawful" Indian aggression against Pakistan which led to civilian casualties, including women, children and the elderly. "This constituted a grave violation of Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity," the statement stated.

Pakistan has credited Trump and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio for the ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed countries.

Notably, the US President's "strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship" de-escalated the crisis between India and Pakistan as they engage with two countries through diplomacy, the statement added.

"His intervention secured a ceasefire and averted a broader conflict between the two nuclear states," the statement stated while calling it a watershed moment for regional peace.

Hence, Pakistan greatly acknowledges Trump's offers to mediate the long-standing Jammu and Kashmir dispute. "Durable peace in South Asia will remain elusive until UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir are implemented," it added.

Backing Trump's name for peace, the statement said: "President Trump's leadership during the 2025 Pakistan-India crisis manifestly showcases the continuation of his legacy of pragmatic diplomacy and effective peace-building."

Following the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, India launched Operation Sindoor, striking nine terror infrastructure in Pakistan and in the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir on May 7. In response, Pakistan tried to attack the border regions but India successfully neutralised drone, and missile attacks.

However, the operation was put on pause after Islamabad called Delhi twice for a ceasefire on May 10.

On the other, India has consistently denied the US's role in the ceasefire. Days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed Trump over the phone that Islamabad's request led to the peace.

US Presidents Who Have Won the Nobel Peace Prize

It has to be noted that four presidents of the United States have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Here is the list:

Woodrow Wilson 1919 For his role in founding the League of Nations after World War I, aiming to promote global peace.
Jimmy Carter 2002 For his decades of work in advancing human rights, democracy, and peaceful conflict resolution worldwide.
Barack Obama 2009 For his efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation, and his vision for a world without nuclear weapons.
