According to a Jersey Evening Post report, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he ordered the strikes due to stalled negotiations over extending the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Officials indicated that the operation had no set end date and was likely to escalate. The White House confirmed it had been consulted and expressed support for Israel's actions.
Netanyahu's office declared that Israel would now intensify its military efforts against Hamas.
