India Linked To Attack On Nijjar Aide's Home? Khalistani Groups Embarrassed In Canada
In the early hours of February 1, a disturbing incident unfolded in Toronto, Canada, when the residence of Simranjeet Singh, an associate of the prominent pro-Khalistan figure Hardeep Singh Nijjar, was targeted in a shooting.
Pro-Khalistan groups, including Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), swiftly pointed fingers at India, alleging its involvement in the attack.

Khalistani Groups Red-Faced By Canada, Know Why
Canadian law enforcement authorities have since made a significant statement, asserting that they have found no evidence to substantiate claims of foreign interference in the incident. Initial speculation surrounding the shooting hinted at potential connections to external forces, but investigators from the Surrey detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have not been able to establish any such links.
This revelation comes amidst heightened tensions and accusations within the Sikh community, particularly between those advocating for Khalistani separatism and Indian authorities. SFJ and other pro-Khalistan organizations have drawn a direct line between the attack and Simranjeet Singh's participation in organizing a protest outside the Indian consulate in Vancouver on January 26.
Moninder Singh, spokesperson for the British Columbia Gurdwaras Council, voiced suspicions that the involvement of Indian state actors may have been an attempt to intimidate Singh and suppress activism in the region. Adding complexity to the situation, two teenagers were recently charged in connection to the shooting.
They face serious charges, including Discharging a Firearm into a place and Possessing a Loaded Prohibited Firearm. As the investigation progresses, these individuals remain in custody awaiting their court appearance, further fueling speculation and debate within the community.
Furthermore, SFJ has levelled additional accusations against India, alleging its involvement in shots fired at a house under construction in Brampton on February 12. This house belonged to Inderjeet Singh Gosal, another individual associated with the Khalistan Referendum in Surrey. Investigations into this incident, along with other drive-by shootings, continue to unfold, adding layers of complexity to an already volatile situation.
The strained relations between India and Canada have only intensified in recent months, exacerbated by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's remarks suggesting a possible link between Indian agents and the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The investigation into Nijjar's killing, led by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), remains ongoing, casting a shadow over diplomatic relations between the two nations and deepening divisions within the Sikh community in Canada.
