India's External Affairs Minister Holds Key Bilateral Talks at UN General Assembly
Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar conducted several bilateral discussions with his counterparts from various countries on the sidelines of the high-level United Nations General Assembly session. Topics ranged from business partnerships to geopolitical situations.
In the midst of the high-level UN General Assembly session in New York, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Mexico, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Armenia. These discussions were part of India's ongoing diplomatic engagement with countries across different regions.
Meeting with Mexican Counterpart

The first meeting was with Alicia Barcena, Secretary of Foreign Affairs for Mexico. Jaishankar expressed pleasure at his interaction with her in a post on X. The two ministers discussed ways to advance their Privileged Partnership which is centred around business, science & technology, education, economy and traditional medicine. They also exchanged perspectives on reforming multilateralism and their collaborative efforts within the G20 framework.
Bilateral Talks With Bosnia And Herzegovina
Jaishankar also had a productive conversation with Elmedin Konakovic, Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Their discussion revolved around the strengthening bilateral ties between India and Bosnia & Herzegovina particularly emphasizing trade and economy.
Engagement With Armenian Counterpart
In addition to these meetings, Jaishankar met Ararat Mirzoyan – his Armenian counterpart – appreciating him for sharing an assessment of the current situation in the Caucuses region. Affirming India’s strong bilateral relationship with Armenia he stated this in a post on X.
Discussion With Cambodian Prime Minister
Prior to these engagements on Sunday, Jaishankar had called upon Hun Manet - Prime Minister of Cambodia - on Saturday. He communicated PM Narendra Modi's warm greetings during their meeting that took place on margins of the high-level UN General Assembly session here. The leaders discussed progress made under their bilateral development partnership along with deliberating over the situation in Myanmar.
In conclusion, these meetings underscore India's commitment to foster strong bilateral ties with nations across different regions. The discussions held were wide-ranging covering areas such as business, science & technology, education and economy while also touching upon regional issues like the situation in Caucuses and Myanmar.
