Elon Musk's Father Refutes Tesla CEO's Claims Of 'Unhappy Childhood': 'He Went To School In Rolls-Royce'
Errol Musk, father of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, has dismissed his son's claims of an unhappy and financially strained upbringing. He asserted that Elon was well taken care of as a child and even went to school in a Rolls-Royce.
His remarks come nearly two years after Elon Musk publicly stated that his childhood was neither privileged nor particularly pleasant. The billionaire has consistently denied growing up with significant financial advantages.

Errol Musk's Perspective on Elon's Upbringing
In a recent interview on 'The Ahmad Mohammad Show', Errol shared details about his early career, financial success, and his views on his son's formative years. He explained that by the age of 26, he had already achieved notable financial and professional success, purchasing a home now occupied by the European Union's ambassador to South Africa, where Elon spent much of his childhood.
"Nobody intentionally desires hardship, but I firmly believe that if everything comes too easily, there is little valuable knowledge gained from the experience," Errol stated. He further claimed, "Elon Musk travelled to school in a Rolls-Royce."
Errol's Early Career and Success
Reflecting on his professional journey, Errol Musk described himself as a hardworking independent consulting engineer, often working weekends to build his career. His dedication led to substantial financial success by his mid-20s.
"By 26, I had attained the same professional standing as men in their mid-to-late forties," he revealed. He added that he had already established his own business by the age of 24 and even acquired his first aircraft.
Elon Musk's Contrasting Account
Elon Musk has previously maintained that his family transitioned from lower-income status to an upper-middle-class lifestyle but insisted that his childhood was not a happy one.
He has also repeatedly denied receiving any inheritance or large monetary gifts, stating: "My father established a small electrical and mechanical engineering business, which thrived for two to three decades but eventually faced financial difficulties."
The SpaceX CEO further claimed that Errol later became largely bankrupt and had to rely on financial assistance from his children.
