After the disappointing performance of his previous release Game Changer, actor Ram Charan appears to have staged a strong comeback at the box office with Peddi, which has registered an impressive start worldwide even before the completion of its first day in theatres.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the sports action drama opened with special premiere shows across India and key overseas markets on Wednesday evening. The premieres generated strong audience response, recording more than 70 per cent occupancy and collecting an estimated ₹18.15 crore gross, as per Sacnilk data.

The momentum continued on Thursday, the film's official release day. Advance bookings and opening-day sales indicate that Peddi is heading for a blockbuster start. As of Thursday, the film had grossed around ₹27.81 crore with an overall occupancy of 45.37 per cent across markets.
The advance booking numbers underline the film's strong pre-release buzz. Across all languages and formats, Peddi sold more than 8.2 lakh tickets in India, generating a gross collection of ₹33.76 crore, including blocked seats.
The Telugu version emerged as the driving force behind the film's opening. The standard 2D Telugu version alone contributed nearly ₹19.57 crore from over 7.68 lakh tickets sold across 7,172 shows. The film also witnessed encouraging demand in premium formats such as IMAX, Dolby Cinema and EPIQ screens.
The Hindi dubbed version delivered respectable numbers as well, grossing over ₹60 lakh from more than 27,000 tickets sold. Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam versions added to the overall tally, reflecting the pan-Indian appeal of the film.
Among the states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana led the charge. Andhra Pradesh generated an advance booking gross of ₹14.81 crore, including blocked seats, while Telangana followed closely with ₹11.75 crore. Together, the two Telugu-speaking states accounted for nearly ₹26.5 crore, highlighting Ram Charan's massive fan base in the region.

Karnataka emerged as the strongest market outside the Telugu states with ₹3.15 crore in advance sales, followed by Tamil Nadu with ₹1.18 crore. Odisha also posted encouraging numbers with bookings worth nearly ₹46 lakh.
The film enjoyed exceptional traction in several key centres, with over 1,300 shows either almost full or filling fast in Andhra Pradesh alone. Telangana reported more than 600 such shows, indicating strong walk-in potential during the opening weekend.
Interestingly, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands recorded the highest real occupancy percentage at 67 per cent, although from a limited number of shows.
Trade analysts estimate that the film's final worldwide advance booking gross has crossed the ₹60 crore mark, placing Peddi among the biggest openers in Ram Charan's career. The strong premiere response, coupled with robust advance sales and positive word-of-mouth from early viewers, has created favourable conditions for a huge opening weekend.
With the absence of major competition and strong demand across Telugu markets, Peddi is now well positioned to register a massive first weekend and potentially emerge as one of the biggest Telugu box-office successes of the year.
