Mira Bhayandar and parts of Thane are seeing a 24-hour water supply disruption from 12 noon on 4 June to 12 noon on 5 June. The shutdown affects areas dependent on Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) supply. Civic bodies have asked residents to plan carefully, store water, and avoid wastage during this full-day outage.

The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has stopped taking water from MIDC from 12 noon on Wednesday, 4 June. Supply is expected to return around 12 noon on 5 June. Officials described the move as a precaution, as El Niño and the Indian Ocean Dipole may strain water stocks in the coming months across the region.

MBMC stated that the STEM Authority network will keep operating through the shutdown window. Civic officials in Mira Bhayandar have urged residents to use stored water with care and share it fairly within buildings and neighbourhoods. People were advised to avoid activities such as washing cars or cleaning large areas. Authorities said restrained use would help maintain equitable distribution while regular MIDC supply remains suspended.

Similar restrictions are in force in neighbouring Thane, where the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has ordered a full 24-hour shutdown. Areas drawing water from the MIDC-operated Jambhul treatment plant are affected from 4 June to 5 June. TMC has said the interruption is linked to maintenance and operational work on supply systems.

Localities under Diva and Kalwa ward committees, Mumbra—except sections of Wards 26 and 31—plus Wagle Estate and Manpada are among the zones hit. Residents were told to make advance arrangements, depend on stored water, and manage daily needs carefully until regular distribution resumes after the scheduled work is finished.
