Donald Trump Wakes Up 24 Hours Later To Wish USA Team Luck After Loss To India In T20 World Cup 2026

US President Donald Trump on Sunday (February 8) shared a message for the United States cricket team participating in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 in India, wishing them success in the global tournament.

Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump posted a message cheering for Team USA and expressing confidence in their performance. His message, however, came nearly a day after the American side suffered a 29-run defeat against India in their opening match of the tournament.

"I just heard the Cricket World Cup is underway in India! I wish the best of luck to TEAM USA! We have a very strong team. America is rooting for you!" Trump wrote in his post.
Along with the message, he shared a photograph of the USA T20 World Cup squad posing alongside ICC Chairman Jay Shah and U.S. Ambassador to India and Special Envoy to South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor.

Trump backs Team USA despite opening defeat

Trump's public show of support for the cricket team comes as the United States continues to build its presence in international cricket. While the team began its T20 World Cup campaign with a loss to hosts India, the message from the US President highlighted confidence in the squad's abilities and potential in the tournament.
