Biden Questions Whether Israel is Delaying Peace Deal to Impact 2024 US Election
President Joe Biden expressed strong opinions about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday. He questioned whether the Israeli leader was delaying a peace agreement to affect the 2024 US presidential election. "No administration has helped Israel more than I have," Biden stated. "None. None, none. And I think Bibi should remember that. And whether he's trying to influence the election, I don't know but I'm not counting on that."

Biden's remarks came during an unusual appearance in the White House press briefing room. He was responding to comments from Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., who voiced concerns on CNN about Netanyahu's lack of interest in a peace deal, partly due to US political considerations.
Escalating Tensions in the Middle East
Israel has been active on two fronts recently. It launched a ground operation in Lebanon against Hezbollah, resulting in eight Israeli soldiers' deaths. Simultaneously, it conducted airstrikes in Gaza, killing dozens, including children. The nation has also pledged to retaliate for Iran's recent ballistic missile attack.
The region is preparing for potential further escalation as tensions rise. Biden mentioned that no decision had been made yet regarding how to respond to Iran's actions. "I'm assuming when they make a decision on how they're going to respond, we will then have a discussion," he said.
These developments highlight the complex geopolitical dynamics at play in the Middle East. The situation remains fluid, with various actors involved and potential implications for international relations.
The ongoing conflict and political manoeuvring underscore the challenges faced by leaders in navigating these issues. As events unfold, the global community watches closely for any shifts or resolutions that may arise.
