At an emergency press conference, Additional Inspector General of Police Khandaker Rafiqul Islam mentioned that law enforcement is actively searching for Masud. "We do not have specific information about Faisal's last location. Our forces and intelligence agencies are working to obtain it," he said, noting there is no credible evidence suggesting Masud has left the country.

Political Motivations and Investigations

Detective Branch Chief Shafiqul Islam indicated that initial findings suggest political motives behind Hadi's murder, as no personal reasons have been identified. He stated, "We are examining all possible angles." The investigation continues to explore various leads to uncover the truth.

The murder of Hadi, who was a key figure in last year's student-led protests that resulted in the removal of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government, has sparked widespread unrest. The 32-year-old spokesperson for Inqilab Mancha was also a candidate for the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 12.

Hadi was shot in the head by masked gunmen during an election campaign event on December 12 in Dhaka’s Bijoynagar area. He succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment in Singapore on Thursday. His death has led to violent incidents across Bangladesh, including attacks on properties like the Assistant Indian High Commissioner's residence in Chattogram.

The police have warned against misinformation regarding Masud's whereabouts, as criminals often spread false rumours. Additional Inspector General Islam emphasised that no solid evidence currently links any political party to Hadi's murder, but efforts are ongoing to gather accurate information.

Hadi's funeral took place on Saturday under heavy security measures. He was buried beside National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam near the Dhaka University mosque. The event was closely monitored to prevent any disturbances during the proceedings.
