Attack On Hinduism: Netizens Slam ‘Oppenheimer’ Over Bhagavad Gita In Sex Scene
The much-awaited Hollywood flick Oppenheimer, the mind behind the world's first atomic bomb, released on Friday.
While the film is doing wonders at the box office, one scene in the Christopher Nolan epic hasn't gone down well with some Indian movie-goers.

"A scene in the movie shows a woman makes a man read Bhagwad Geeta aloud while getting over him and doing sexual intercourse," said Uday Mahurkar, Information Officer with the government of India, sharing a press release by the 'Save Culture Save India Foundation'.
"A divine gift to human civilisation by Bhagwan Sri Krishna, the Bhagwad Geeta, is one of the most revered scriptures of Hinduism. Geeta has been the inspiration for countless sanyasis, brahmcharis and legends who live a life of self-control and perform selfless noble deeds," he added.
One is perplexed as to how the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) could approve the movie with this scene.
"We are living in a very polarised world. So this should be investigated by I & B Ministry on an urgent basis and those involved should be severely punished. As observed by Union I & B Minister Anurag Thakur ji recently and even courts in last couple of years, the entertainment we get is insensitive to the cultural and moral sentiments of masses. Masses are forced to remain helpless recipients of repeated attacks on their foundational values as content-makers get free hand to spend millions in making and promoting morally inappropriate, even disgusting stuff , in name of creativity. There is already a growing dissatisfaction against this," he demanded.
The Foundation urged the I & B Ministry to do all that is needed to uphold dignity of the revered holy book of the Hindus, punish those involved and setting processes in place that such things do not happen in future.
For the uninitiated, Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh etc, is based on J Robert Oppenheimer.
The movie explores the life of the renowned American physicist J Robert Oppenheimer who is also known as the Father of Atomic Bomb - his achievement, the big explosion, the result and his relationship with his legacy.
