Explosions Heard Across Gulf, Iran Launches Strikes Targeting US Bases Across Region

A wave of explosions and air-raid alerts swept across the Gulf on Saturday, with blasts reported in several countries only hours after joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran. Authorities confirmed explosions in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, while Qatar said its air defences intercepted an incoming Iranian missile.

The developments marked a rapid widening of the confrontation, as the fallout from the attacks on Iran appeared to spill into neighbouring states hosting key military and strategic installations.

Multiple Countries Report Blasts And Sirens

Explosions were heard in Kuwait and sirens were activated, according to media reports, signalling that regional air-defence systems had been placed on emergency footing. Shortly afterward, a loud explosion was also reported in Abu Dhabi, raising fears of a coordinated retaliatory strike.

Qatar too reported explosions as Iran launched a counterattack following the Israel-US assault on the Islamic Republic. Officials in Doha confirmed that missile defence systems were activated and successfully intercepted the projectile.

Attack Reported Near US Naval Base

Bahrain earlier said a missile attack targeted the US Navy's 5th Fleet headquarters in the kingdom, one of Washington's most important military facilities in the Middle East. The installation plays a central role in American naval patrols across the Persian Gulf and surrounding waters.

There was no immediate confirmation of casualties or damage, but security agencies across the region intensified protective measures around military bases and energy infrastructure.

Region Braces For Wider War

The explosions across multiple countries unfolded within hours of Israel and the United States carrying out strikes inside Iran, pushing the Middle East into a renewed military confrontation.

Analysts warned the pattern suggested retaliatory signalling aimed at US allies and bases across the Gulf. With sirens sounding in several capitals and missile defence systems activated, fears are mounting that further strikes, shipping disruptions and broader military engagement could follow.
