On the seventh death anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and deputy CMs paid tribute, highlighting his impactful leadership and legacy in Indian politics.

Adityanath highlighted Vajpayee's influence on India's development model and global standing. "What should be the life values and ideals of India? What should be the model of development? How can India and Indianness be given prestige on the global platform? Whether in power or the opposition, Atal ji always kept these things in mind and provided his effective leadership in this regard," he remarked.

Vajpayee's Political Legacy

The Chief Minister noted that Uttar Pradesh was fortunate as Vajpayee began his political career in Balrampur. In 1957, he became an MP from Balrampur for the first time. "It is the good fortune of Lucknow that Atal ji reached the Parliament from the city five times in a row, and represented Uttar Pradesh as the prime minister," Adityanath added.

Vajpayee served as a Lok Sabha MP ten times and was a Rajya Sabha member twice. He was a guide for both current and future generations. A poet and statesman, he served as Prime Minister from May 16 to June 1, 1996, and then from March 19, 1998, to May 22, 2004. He was the first non-Congress Prime Minister to complete a full term.

Tributes from Leaders

Deputy Chief Minister Maurya paid tribute by offering flowers at Vajpayee's photograph at his residence. "Atal ji's entire life was dedicated to making the national interests supreme in the life and soul of the Bharatiya Janata Party, to take its ideology to the masses, and to make politics synonymous with character, service and sacrifice," Maurya said.

Deputy Chief Minister Pathak expressed his admiration for Vajpayee on social media. "Heartfelt tributes on the death anniversary of the man of the era of Indian politics, the guide of countless workers and our source of inspiration, former prime minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji," he posted.

Vajpayee's Influence on Indian Politics

Adityanath described Vajpayee as a symbol of purity in politics. "He was the architect of purity in Indian politics, the voice of gentleness, and the flag-bearer of morality in the national scene. Atal ji was a symbol of political sadhana in the true sense," Adityanath mentioned in a post on X.

During a gathering to honour Vajpayee, Padmashree awardee poet Surendra Sharma recited poetry. Adityanath also referenced one of Vajpayee's poems during his speech. "Born in a normal family, Atal Ji believed in karma and made politics a medium of service," he said.

Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma praised Vajpayee's charm and eloquence. "Atal ji was a great man, whose affection charmed everyone. His speech had the presence of Goddess Saraswati in it. Humble tributes on his death anniversary," Sharma stated.

In Deoria, state minister Surya Pratap Shahi acknowledged Vajpayee's role in elevating India's global status. "Vajpayee ji's contribution in establishing India on the world stage was remarkable. He was a man with a great personality. He increased India's prestige with his eloquence and knowledge," Shahi commented.

Vajpayee is credited with advancing economic reforms that led to significant growth during his tenure as Prime Minister. His leadership remains an enduring source of inspiration for many within Indian politics today.
