Witness Of Twisha Murder Case Allegedly Attacked By Accused Husband Samarth Singh's Friends

A key witness in the Twisha Sharma death case has alleged that friends of Samarth Singh attacked and threatened Neeraj Dubey in Bhopal. Dubey said the assault happened while the Central Bureau of Investigation continued its dowry harassment probe. The incident has raised questions about witness safety as investigators examine the circumstances of Sharma’s death.

Dubey runs a beauty salon near the Katara Hills home of Samarth’s mother, Giribala Singh, in Bhopal. Dubey stated that four to five men confronted Dubey near the salon on 30 May. Dubey said the men questioned why Dubey was testifying in the case, then allegedly assaulted Dubey and issued threats.

Witness harassment claims in Twisha Sharma death case

A video accessed by India Today TV reportedly shows Dubey surrounded by several men in a busy marketplace. The clip appears to capture the group shouting and abusing Dubey before a scuffle begins. Some individuals seem to hold sticks while trying to corner Dubey. According to Dubey, the men demanded explanations for Dubey’s testimony and warned of serious consequences.

Speaking with reporters, Dubey said Dubey was listed as a witness during preparation of the panchnama in the Twisha Sharma death investigation. Dubey alleged facing repeated harassment and intimidation after being officially named a witness. Dubey identified one alleged attacker as Sandeep Bhattacharya and linked the intimidation directly to Dubey’s role in the case.

Dubey said a written complaint was filed with police after the alleged assault and threats. However, Dubey claimed that no concrete action had followed against those mentioned in the complaint. Dubey added that police later called Dubey again to the station regarding the grievance and verbally assured that appropriate steps would be taken. The matter falls under Katara Hills police station.

CBI investigation steps in Twisha Sharma death case

The allegations by Dubey emerged while the CBI investigated the death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma. Sharma was found hanging at her matrimonial residence in Bhopal on 12 May. The agency has been examining claims by Sharma’s family that dowry-related harassment by in-laws played a role in the death.

On Monday, the CBI team recreated the crime scene using a dummy with weight similar to Sharma. Investigators, supported by forensic and crime scene experts, took Samarth Singh and mother Giribala Singh, both in CBI custody, back to the residence. Officials asked them to reconstruct events around the night of 12 May to build a minute-by-minute timeline.

According to the FIR, Samarth Singh told investigators that Sharma had hanged herself at home before being taken to AIIMS Bhopal. Doctors later informed police that Sharma had been brought dead to the hospital. The post-mortem report stated the cause of death was “antemortem hanging by ligature” and mentioned multiple ante-mortem injuries, described as simple and possibly caused by a blunt object.

Police registered an FIR on 15 May after recording statements from Sharma’s family and examining medical findings. Relatives alleged that Sharma faced continuous mental and physical harassment over dowry demands after the marriage to Samarth on 9 December 2025. The family accused Samarth and other in-laws of driving Sharma towards the extreme step through persistent pressure.

The FIR also includes statements that Sharma spoke with Sharma’s mother at 9.41 pm on 12 May. During that call, Samarth was allegedly heard shouting before the line disconnected suddenly. Family members said subsequent calls were eventually answered by Giribala Singh, who stated that Sharma was “no more” before ending the conversation without further explanation.

The case now involves parallel concerns over alleged dowry harassment and the safety of at least one key witness. While CBI teams reconstruct events leading to Sharma’s death, local police have assured Dubey that Dubey’s complaint will be addressed. Further investigative steps and official responses are awaited from both agencies based on the evidence collected so far.
