West Bengal: CID seizes 39 litres of imported liquor from retired IPS officer's apartment

The report said TMC leaders blamed Bharati Ghosh for rise in vote share of BJP in the recent Sabang Assembly constituency bypoll in Wed Midnapore district.

At least 39 litres of imported liquor in 57 sealed bottles were seized from apartment building of retired West Bengal IPS officer Bharati Ghosh on Thursday. A raid was carried out by CID team following allegations of extortion. Imported scotch like Johnny Walker and Chivas Regal were seized.

The Economic Times reported that Bharati Ghosh, a promotee IPS officer, was known to her proximity former TMC leader MuKul Roy and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Following, Roy's shift to BJP, cracks began surfacing between Ghosh and Mamata Banerjee. Bharati Ghosh had long stint as SP of Maoist-hit West Midnapore district.
