The first Bharatiya Janata Party government in West Bengal has unveiled its cabinet portfolio allocation, highlighting a strong focus on regional balance and community outreach. Key responsibilities have gone to leaders from OBC, Matua, Rajbongshi and tribal communities across the state.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced the distribution of departments on Monday, a few days after taking oath. Adhikari confirmed that senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh will head Rural Development and Prani Vikash, giving Ghosh a major role in shaping village-level policies.

Agnimitra Paul has been placed in charge of Women and Child Welfare, along with Municipal Corporations, linking social protection with urban administration. Former Union Minister Nisith Pramanik will lead North Bengal Development and Youth Welfare & Sports, underlining the government’s attention to the region and younger population.
