Weather Update: Heatwave To Continue In These States Till June 20
Owing to the southwest monsoon's delayed arrival over Kerala and sluggish progression over the Indian mainland, North India has remained largely hot and dry during the first half of June. No major change is on the horizon this week either, with these regions expected to reel under the grip of heatwaves.
The heatwave conditions likely to prevail in some states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand till tomorrow, Tuesday, June 20, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

"Heatwave to severe heatwave likely to continue in some pockets over Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana from 18th to 20th June. Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, East Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh on 18th and 19th June," the IMD added.
A severe heatwave has killed nearly 100 people in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. However, it has not been officially revealed that the cause of death is a heatwave. A probe team from Lucknow is investigating the cause of deaths in the Ballia district.
