Water from Bhavanisagar dam to be released from Jan 13

Chennai,Jan 12: Acceding to the pleas of the farming community, water from the Bhavanisagar dam would be released from tomorrow, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said here on Tuesday, Jan 12.

"Following requests from the farming community to release water from the lower Bhavani project canal, extension canal, sluices and Chennasamudram canal, I have issued orders to release water from January 13", she said in an official release.

Through this initiative, 1.03 lakh acres of agricultural land in Erode, Tiruppur and Karur districts stand to benefit, she said.
