WATCH | 'He Is Creator Of Universe', Says Bhole Baba's Follower On Godman After Stampede Kills 121
The tragic stampede at a religious gathering led by 'Vishwa Hari Bhole Baba' in Hathras resulted in the deaths of at least 121 people and left over 300 injured. The incident took place near Phulrai village in the Sikandrarau area, and the victims were predominantly women and children.
The stampede occurred around 3:30 PM when thousands of devotees rushed to touch the feet of Bhole Baba, whose real name is Suraj Pal Singh, a former police officer turned religious preacher. Eyewitnesses reported that the ground had become slippery due to water from a nearby drain, causing people to fall and get trampled.

Adding to the controversy, a video has now gone viral on social media, where a follower of Bhole Baba can be heard defending the Godman.
The follower, Vikram Singh, claimed that the Baba is not responsible for the unfortunate incident. He said, "He is not 'Baba', he is the creator of this universe 'Shri Narayan Hari'. He is the one behind everything that happens. For yesterday's incident, there is no fault of 'Narayan Hari'."
Overcrowding was a significant factor, with the actual attendance reaching nearly 2.5 lakh people, far exceeding the 80,000 figure mentioned in the organisers' application.
Prakash Kumar, an injured attendee from Aligarh, described the chaotic scene: "There was a large crowd at the site. There was no way out, and people fell on each other and fainted. When I tried to move out, there were motorcycles parked outside, which blocked my way."
The narrow exit routes and limited parking within a 3-km radius were inadequate for the massive crowd. Shyam Singh from Agra noted that the stampede started when Bhole Baba's convoy passed, causing an unexpected halt and escalating the chaos.
A deep pit near the venue's back door added to the tragedy, as several individuals fell into it, triggering further panic and confusion. Many of the fatalities resulted from trampling during this chaotic scene.
Hathras District Magistrate Ashish Kumar explained that while the event had received permission from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), the actual turnout far exceeded expectations. Most of the victims were from Hathras and nearby Etah, highlighting the local impact of this disaster.
