Vijayawada Floods: Shivraj Singh Chouhan To Visit Affected Areas Of Andhra Pradesh

Union Minister for Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan will embark on a two-day visit to the flood-affected regions of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana starting today, September 5. He announced on 'X' that his visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's directives to assess the damage in these southern states.

Chouhan plans arrive in Vijayawada on Thursday. During his visit, he will engage with residents and farmers impacted by the floods. "I will also hold a meeting with officials in Vijayawada to assess the damage caused in the flood-affected areas," he stated.

Shivraj Chouhan's Telangana Visit

The Union Minister is scheduled to visit Khammam district and other flood-hit areas in Telangana on September 6. He will interact with locals and farmers to evaluate crop damage. A team from the Union Agriculture Ministry will accompany him, holding meetings with state officials to assess the situation.

"The Central government is keeping an eye on the situation. In this hour of crisis, the Central government stands fully with the people of the flood-affected areas of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and will provide all possible help to them in overcoming the crisis," Chouhan said.

Amit Shah's Update on Andhra Pradesh Floods

On Wednesday, September 5, Union Home Minister Amit Shah mentioned that the Modi government is closely monitoring the flood situation in Andhra Pradesh. The Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a central team led by the Additional Secretary (Disaster Management) to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of flood management, reservoir management, dam safety issues, and recommend immediate relief measures.

Responding to Amit Shah's tweet about this matter, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed gratitude towards him and Prime Minister Modi for their swift response. "We welcome the Central team's visit for an on-the-spot assessment and look forward to their recommendations. The GoAP will extend full cooperation to the team to ensure timely relief for our affected people," Naidu posted on X.

People were seen crossing a waterlogged street at Bhavanipuram Sitara Center, one of the flood-affected areas in Vijayawada. The floods have caused significant disruption, impacting daily life and agriculture in both states.
