UP Weather Update: Western Disturbance Brings Rain, Fog And Temperature Drop

A western disturbance has affected the state for the last two days, leading to sudden changes in weather conditions. Light rain was recorded in the capital on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, strong winds blowing at a speed of around 20-30 km per hour caused a noticeable drop in temperature.

The daytime temperature in Lucknow fell by nearly three degrees Celsius and settled at 21.6 degrees. The night temperature dropped even more sharply, falling by 5.6 degrees, making the weather much colder.

Weather Outlook for Lucknow and Eastern UP

The impact of this weather system is expected to continue on Thursday in Lucknow and nearby areas. Several districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh may also experience similar conditions. Light to moderate rainfall is likely in the Terai belt.

Senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh said that light fog may appear in Lucknow during the early morning hours on Thursday. While the maximum temperature is expected to stay the same, the minimum temperature could drop by one to two degrees.

Sunshine is expected to return by around 10 a.m., though clouds may move in and out during the day. There is no alert for thunderstorms or strong winds. Daytime temperatures are likely to remain close to normal across most districts. Central and eastern parts of the state will continue to feel cold, with only mild sunshine.

Agra Remains Cold Under Cloudy Skies

Agra witnessed dense fog on Wednesday morning, which gradually cleared as the day progressed. However, clouds covered the sky throughout the day, and the sun did not make an appearance.

The cold intensified as there was very little difference between the day and night temperatures, leaving residents shivering. According to the Meteorological Department, light mist or fog may form again on Thursday morning, which could cause a further dip in minimum temperature. The sun is expected to appear later in the afternoon.

Dry Weather Likely in Gorakhpur Region

Gorakhpur is expected to see dry weather conditions. Dense fog may form in some areas during the morning hours. Due to westerly winds, the chill is likely to be felt more during early mornings and evenings.
Similar weather conditions are expected in nearby districts such as Deoria and Basti.
