Ujjain Police Officer Offers Treatment, Education To Rape Survivor

In response to the investigation into the rape case of a minor girl in Ujjain, a Madhya Pradesh Police official, Ajay Verma, has stepped forward to offer support for the girl's medical treatment, education, and marriage. He expressed that many others have also shown willingness to contribute to this cause.

Ajay Verma, the investigating officer and in-charge of Mahakal police station, shared, " I have taken the responsibility to help the girl with medical treatment, education, and marriage... Many people have come forward to support me in this resolution... I believe that all responsibilities will be completed in a good manner...," as reported by the news agency ANI.

This heart-wrenching incident, which has deeply impacted the nation, came to light on September 25 when a 15-year-old girl was discovered in distress on a road within the Mahakal police station jurisdiction in Ujjain. She was promptly admitted to a hospital, where a medical examination confirmed that she had been a victim of rape.

The victim is reported to be a resident of Satna district who had arrived in Ujjain on Sunday.

    Two autorickshaw drivers have been apprehended in connection with the case. One of them, identified as Bharat Soni, was arrested on charges of allegedly raping the minor, while the other driver, Rakesh Malviya, was detained for attempting to tamper with evidence. Police authorities stated that Soni's involvement was detected through CCTV footage showing his interaction with the victim near Ujjain railway station.

    "After viewing the viral videos, we identified the girl, for whom a missing complaint had been lodged on Monday at Jaitwara police station, and promptly informed Ujjain police. The minor's grandfather has confirmed her identity," noted Satna's additional superintendent of police, Shivesh Singh Baghel.

    In the meantime, the girl is receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Indore. A representative from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), who visited the victim, conveyed that her condition has shown signs of improvement. However, it is expected to take considerable time for her to recover from the psychological trauma.
