Two Drivers Found Dead in Nainital Truck Cabin After Lighting Lamp for Warmth

In Nainital, two drivers died from suffocation after lighting a kerosene lamp in their truck cabin to combat the cold. They were discovered unconscious by workers and later pronounced dead at a hospital.

On Sunday, a man and his nephew were discovered deceased in their truck, likely from suffocation, after lighting a lamp inside to combat the severe cold. The incident occurred in Pirumadara village near Ramnagar town. Workers at a local stone crusher found them unconscious in the truck's cabin and transported them to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Ikrar, both hailing from Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh, arrived at the stone crusher on Saturday night to collect a shipment. After loading the truck around 5 am on Sunday, they parked it outside the facility. To keep warm in the freezing weather, they lit a kerosene lamp inside the cabin, closed the windows, and fell asleep.

Investigation Underway into Tragic Incident

When other workers called out to them later and got no response, they broke the truck's windows. They found both men unconscious inside. The workers immediately took them to a government hospital in Ramnagar. Unfortunately, doctors declared them dead upon arrival.

Initial findings suggest that suffocation might be the cause of death. However, the precise cause will be determined following the post-mortem examination. Police have launched an investigation into this tragic event and have sent the bodies for autopsy.

The unfortunate incident highlights the dangers of using open flames in enclosed spaces. It serves as a reminder of the importance of proper ventilation when using such heat sources. The community is now awaiting further details from the ongoing investigation.
